A great mix of long-established NSAF Select Meets and new additions to the roster will again create a wealth of competitive opportunities for highly motivated prep athletes to build their resumes for NBN and Junior/U-20 Championship events.

Each year the NSAF provides promotion, support and in many cases athlete travel grants to a group of specific, high-quality track and field meets around the country. The program, which has been in existence for more than 15 years, was created to assist these meets and to help selected outstanding athletes to get to them -- especially those offering stronger competition outside their state or region. Travel grant recipients are determined by a collaboration between the NSAF and the meet directors.

The 2019-20 schedule of NSAF Select Meets began with the Ocean Breeze Holiday Festival Dec. 30 -- the first of the “BIG3” High School Series at Ocean Breeze – which also includes the Ocean Breeze Freedom Games on Jan. 4-5, plus the Ocean Breeze Invitational on Jan. 19 (Youth) and Jan. 25-26 (HS).

Also on Jan. 4 is the Bulldog Invite at Liberty U. in VA, a first-time Select Meet, held on the same blazing track as the VA Showcase on Jan. 17-19. The other newcomers to the indoor schedule are the South Carolina Challenge (Jan. 19) and South Carolina Classic (Feb. 23), both set on the Gamecocks' new banked 200m oval in Columbia, SC. Returnees to the undercover slate are the the Bullis Champion Speed Invite at The Armory on Jan. 25; the Mondo Elite HS Invitational at the JDL Fast Track (NC) on Jan. 31-Feb. 1; the Kentucky HS Invite in Lexington on Feb. 15; and the 42nd Annual Simplot Games in Pocatello, ID on Feb. 13-15.

The outdoor Select Meet schedule includes for the first time the prestigious Mt. SAC Invite in Walnut, CA (Apr. 16-18) -- returning to the new Hilmer Lodge Stadium after 3 years of renovation. There are also several major events that have been Select Meets for many years, plus some newer additions to the schedule. The "veterans" include the Arcadia Invitational, Mobile Challenge of Champions, Bojangles T&F Classic and the post-season Great Southwest Classic -- running for the first time this spring without the late, great meet director John Haaland. Relatively new (5 yrs or less) are the Chandler Rotary Invite, Beach Run Invitational, Bulldog Invitational and Howard Wood Dakota Relays.
