CARY, N.C., Sept. 30, 8:30 a.m. -- Due to a worsening storm forecast and local school closures, the NSAF has moved this morning to cancel Saturday's Great American XC Festival and HBCU Challenge.

The worsening weather forecast for Cary/Raleigh, NC has left us no choice but to cancel this event," said Josh Rowe, NSAF CEO. "We don't want to put athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and spectators in any potential harm.

"We have done everything we can to provide a safe and positive experience for all, but the weather has given us no choice. We thank everyone for your patience this week and we look forward to serving our track & field community in big ways next year."

The NSAF will work with teams and schools to provide credits for entry fees for next year's event. And for those who really would like to compete this weekend, the NSAF can host additional entries at its Nike XC Town Twilight Meet, presented by The Garrett Companies in Terre Haute, IN which begins Saturday evening. Those interested in competing in that event can reach out to info@nationalscholastic.org.
